I've read that "art is a recreation of reality according to the artist's metaphysical" perceptions/judgements. For me, this description is half 'what art is'. The rest of the equation is the viewer's metaphysical perceptions and judgements. Unity of the two completes the piece, finishing it, making it whole. With each viewer a unique shared entity results. With each viewer that one piece is recreated.
